THE refuse collection road show which stopped at Beer, last Thursday June 5, met with a positive response from residents.The information bus was crewed by waste management officers Karen Arnett and Steve Joyce, Cllr Mike Green, and project manager Paul DeakinMike Green said: "The response was amazing and the vast majority of people were very enthusiastic and we were kept busy explaining the new set up for the whole two hours we were there."Beer residents will receive their new wheelie bins, kitchen waste caddies and recycling boxes at the beginning of July before the changes are fully phased in on August 4 The change of collection day from Thursday to Monday seemed to be a popular move amongst most residents.Other changes such as bins for recycling kitchen waste and bottle and paper collections every week also met with a good response. Kitchen waste will be stored in a special caddies and when collected taken to an energy plant. From here it will be turned into methane gas and then to electricity.Un-recyclable waste will from August 4 only be collected fortnightly.
