A PROPOSAL to replace an underground sewage treatment works in an area of "high archaeological potential" in Gosford got the go-ahead by district council planners last Tuesday.
Members of East Devon District Council's development control committee voted in favour of the plans, which will serve 22 nearby properties and also see a new stone access path created to the site from Gosford Lane.
Planning permission was granted on the condition any work adheres to Government policy on preserving and recording archaeological remains after nearby land was flagged as a possible "prehistoric settlement" when flint tools were found there.
