Public invited to take part in writing workshops at RAMM in Exeter

THREE cultural organisations have joined forces to organise a series of free writing workshops.

Exeter Northcott Theatre and Show of Strength Theatre Company are working with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery to get people to devise five-minute monologues based on items they have chosen in the museum.

Twelve selected Gripping Yarns will then be performed at the museum on Saturday and Sunday, May 12/13.

The first workshop took place on Saturday and a second is today, Friday, from 10am to 12pm in the RAMM garden room.

Future workshops take place on Thursday, March 15, 2-4pm at RAMM, Monday, March 19, 2-4pm and Monday, March 26, 10am to 12pm at Exeter Phoenix meeting room and Sunday, April 1 from 1-4pm at RAMM.

Booking isn’t necessary and pieces will be developed in workshops led by Show of Strength’s creative producer, Sheila Hannon, who said: “Gripping Yarns will encourage people to use their imaginations and tell all kinds of stories.”

People can select their ‘treasure’ from the museum on which to base their story before or during the workshops.
