GUNS and ammunition which have been seized or handed into Sidmouth Police were destroyed last week.
More than 20 firearms including starting pistols, air rifles and shot guns as well as bullets and pellets were crushed and chopped up last Thursday.
A police spokesman said: "The firearms and ammunition have been collected over the last six to seven months.
"Many of which have been handed in by the relatives of deceased people or by farmers who no longer want them.

"However a small minority have been seized as a result of carrying out warrants on properties."
* Anyone who has a firearm they wish to dispose of can hand them into Sidmouth Police Station.
