The ladies’ Morris dancing group are holding two free taster sessions for women interested in joining them
Sidmouth’s female Morris troupe is hoping to welcome new members to join its dances in the 2019 season.
Any women aged over 18 who might be interested in joining the Sidmouth Steppers are invited to come along to a free taster session on Tuesday (September 18) or Tuesday, September 25 at The Guide Hut, Lawn Vista.
Most of the dances they perform originated in the north of England and were performed by mill workers at holiday festivals and in processions.
Alexa Baker from the Steppers said: “Come along, meet the friendly team and have a go.

“There’s no pressure to join but it is a great way to keep fit, meet people and visit some lovely places and festivals. Just bring trainers and comfy clothes.”
The Steppers have also raised the impressive sum of £1,600 for the Devon Air Ambulance, from their anniversary ceilidh, day of dance and collections made while dancing out on Tuesday evenings.
