Residents can have their say on the proposals to move the Mill Street branch into McColl’s in Yonder Street.

Residents are being asked to have their say about relocating Ottery’s Post Office and extending its opening times.

A six week consultation is now running until October 11 to discuss plans to move the branch from Mill Street into McColl’s, in Yonder Street.

The service would be open for an additional 59 hours a week under the new plans, and if implemented come into force in December or January.

The main counter would open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm and the low screened open plan counter would offer selected services seven days a week 7am to 10pm.

Suzanne Richardson, Regional Network Manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
