A PROTRUDING metal stake will be removed from Sidmouth beach on Monday after a member of the public expressed concerns to the coastguard.
Rescuers were this week contacted over the ‘potentially hazardous’, sharp object and referred the matter to East Devon District Council.
A council spokesperson said: “The object is a metal stake about one inch in diameter. Our staff have wrapped high-visibility tape around it until Monday, when the tide will be right to work on the stake. We will dig around the stake and then use a petrol angle grinder to cut it off below sand level.”
