TREE surgeons were called to pollard a lime tree in Manor Road, Sidmouth, after heavy winds cracked a major limb.
The road was closed to traffic early on Friday morning after a branch fell across it. Devon District Council called out specialists from Dartmoor Tree Surgeons, Woodbury, because the job was too dangerous to tackle.
Aran Kimberlee, who climbed the 65-foot tree near Manor Pavilion Theatre, decided to reduce the whole tree to seven metres after expressing concern the heavy branch could fall at any time.
