A pair of historic chandeliers are set to undergo a £31,000 restoration project with one the country’s leading specialists.
In February the Herald reported the return of newly restored chandelier which takes pride of place at the music room in Sidholme Hotel, after a costing £30,000 to be restored.
It took eight months of delicate work by Wilkinson Glass Restorers, the royal warrant holder.
At the time The Friends of Sidholme Music Room expressed their hopes to restore all seven of the room’s collection, which dates back to the 1800s. And this week, David Wilkinson and his wife Mandy returned to Sidmouth and spent hours taking down two more smaller chandeliers which have been taken away to their workshop to be restored over the next several months, costing in the region of £31,500.
John McGregor, from the friends group, said he hoped the chandeliers would be back in the spring. He added: “The first one is absolutely brilliant. The contrast between the one that need to be restoring is amazing. It creates all the colour of the rainbow.”
