BREAKING NEWS: Firefighters tackled a blaze under floorboards at Ottery’s parish church this morning (Wednesday, January 19).

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze under floorboards at Ottery’s parish church this morning (Wednesday, January 19).

Three crews raced to the scene at around 7.50am.

The Fire Service was alerted smoke was coming from under the floorboards at the location.

One appliance from Ottery, one from Middlemoor, Exeter, and one from Honiton were mobilised.

Crews confirmed a small fire under the floorboards of the property. The fire was extinguished by them using one hose reel jet and small tools to cut away hot spots.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
