ELDERLY Sidmouth residents struggling to heat their homes this winter are being encouraged to ask for help.

Devon County Council's 'Supporting People' team has linked up with Age Concern and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SWAST) to help to those most in need and offer advice.

Councillor Eileen Wragg, DCC's older people's champion, said:

"It's a worrying time for our older residents, particularly at a time when there is a lot of talk about rising energy prices. Not everyone realises the benefits to which they are entitled. Our partners in this project will be making sure those in need will get their financial entitlements and find information on fuel efficiency initiatives. I would urge anyone who is finding that they are in difficulty with their heating bills to contact one of the organisations for help."

Age Concern can be contacted on 0845 296 7810.
