A night of opera raised more than £10,000 for people living with terminal illnesses.

Some 110 opera lovers gathered for an evening of music featured acclaimed singers Anando Mukerjee and Justine Viani at Cadhay House in Ottery.

The evening started in Cadhay’s Court of the Sovereigns courtyard before moving to the Elizabethan manor house for a champagne and canapé reception.

The black tie event was hosted by Rupert Thistlethwayte and Caroline Prior.

The money raised from the event will be donated to Hospiscare.

Geoff Pringle, chair of the trustees at Hospiscare, said: “It was a beautiful evening and we want to thank all the performers, sponsors and guests for coming to support Hospiscare, funds raised will go to support the people we care for living with a terminal illness in the local community.”

The charity will use the money to continue providing care and support to those living with terminal illness in Exeter, and Mid and East Devon.
