Sidmouth’s annual Easter hot cross bun giveaway, usually held on Good Friday, will not take place this year as coronavirus restrictions have once again hampered the event for the second year running.

Rachel Perram, Hot Cross Bun Committee secretary, said: “We are very sad to announce that we have taken the decision to cancel the Hot Cross Bun giveaway in Sidmouth this year.
“We hope that you understand that it would not be safe to run this in the current pandemic.
“We hope to be back next year. Please do support our local suppliers - Vinnicombes Bakery, who bake our amazing hot cross buns and Winchester’s who supply our tangerines.
“We are very grateful for donations of any spare change that you have, which we collect in the various collection pots around the businesses in the town. We rely on your generosity to keep going.
“May we wish all the children and families in the valley a happy and safe Easter.”
