A COUNCILLOR with a sideline in DJ-ing unexpectedly met a pop idol at a civic event – and found out he holidays in Sidmouth.

Stuart Hughes was surprised to see top record producer Pete Waterman at the County Council Network Conference in Cheshire.

The music guru was the main speaker at the event.

Councillor Hughes, who hosts Wake Up With Huggy on East Devon’s Bay Fm, was delighted to hear Mr Waterman had heard him in action.

“He told me that he visits Sidmouth and Beer every year and that his parents used to holiday in Sidmouth when he was a child,” added Huggy.
