CHURCH stalwart Michael Edgecumbe has replaced his wife, Joan, as the new chairman of Churches Together in Sidmouth.

This was decided at the annual general meeting held last Thursday in which Reverend Alan Marchant was voted in as vice chairman. A vote of thanks was made to Joan, who was vacating the post which she has held for two years, because she has so many other commitments. The secretary, Jackie Stephens, and the treasurer, Dora Petty, were both re-elected to their positions and Mr Edgecumbe will continue the work of media/events co-ordinator.

The Bishop of Crediton, The Right Reverend Bob Evens, will be preaching at the festival service in Connaught Gardens on the morning of August 1.
