A Sidmouth dad-of-four will don his running kit and tackle a trio of endurance running races, in less than three months, for charity.
Ian Walker, of Peaslands Road, who owns Ian Walker Family Law and Mediation Solicitors, will be fundraising for local charity Balloons.
Balloons provides free one-to-one support for children and young people who have experienced or are preparing for the death of someone significant in their lives.
Ian’s first event will be the Four Trigs next Sunday, (February 8), a 17-mile off-road run between the Sid Valley’s four ‘triangulation’ points.
The 46-year-old will then take on the gruelling 20-mile Grizzly on March 1, and then face his biggest challenge – the 26-mile London Marathon, on April 26.
In all, he will be running roughly 62 miles worth of races in just under three months.
“I have not run the London Marathon before and wanted to use this opportunity to raise money for a local service,” said the Sidmouth Running Club member.
“I chose to support Balloons because they are a small charity that can slip under the radar.
“It is good to have a service out there for children to get support for what will be a very upsetting and confusing time for them.
“If the death of a loved one is something which adults can find challenging, it’s more confusing for children.
“It’s good to have a local service to meet their needs.”
Ian, who specialises in family law, is also a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel and is hoping to raise £2,000 from the endurance challenges.
