Sculptor Sam Storey of Millin Metalcraft is crafting six-foot-tall daffodils to stand in the grounds of Kennaway House on Saturday, March 3.

At the other end of the scale, Sidmouth Women’s Institute members and friends are knitting miniature daffodil brooches, similar to the poppies they made for Remembrance Day, to be sold at Sidmouth Daffodil Day.

Sam has previously sculpted daffodils but one of his creations will have a special twist – it will be made in the image of the special Keith Owen variety, which was named by the Sidmouth Daffodil Society after the benefactor who envisioned a ‘valley of a million bulbs’.

Its inaugural event will run from 10am to 3pm at Kennaway House and feature talks and a plant show. Visit sidmouthdaffodilsociety.org.uk for more information.
