AS A way of bringing a project about India alive, Year Five pupils at St Nicholas Junior, Woolbrook, enjoyed learning about and playing Indian musical instruments.
Andy Warn from Bristol, who runs workshops on different countries, worked with each of the three Year Five classes individually.
Nick Kitchen, Year Five co-ordinator, said: "He had enough instruments for the whole class to play. He did a demonstration first and talked about the basics of Indian melody and rhythm.
"By the end the whole class had played something and swapped around."
While Andy played sitar, pupils tried a tune on a tambura, tabla drums, shruti box - which is like a harmonium - and bells, which they held and wore around their ankles.
"It is the first time we have had Andy," said Mr Kitchen, who runs the school orchestra.
