Storyteller joins team for Young People’s Day at Sidmouth Museum
A LOCAL storyteller is taking young Sidmouth residents and visitors on a journey to explore the mythical stories of an Iron Age mirror next week.
The event will be run by Sidmouth Museum, in conjunction with Young People’s Day, on Wednesday, August 24, writes Gemma Clapp.
Clare Viner, a storyteller with more than 10 year’s experience, will be at the museum all day to tell the tales of the Holcombe Mirror – which was seen as the South West’s “secret weapon” during the Roman invasion in 30AD.
Children from the age of five will be welcomed to the drop-in event, which will also feature craft activities themed around the mystical mirror.
The museum will be open from 10am until 4pm, with free admission.
On the same day, visitors are encouraged to step next door to Kennaway House, where two performances of “Smugglers Gold” will take place at 11.30am and 2.30pm.
