A RETIRED gent’s hairdresser has been named the new chairman of Sidmouth Town Council Planning Committee.
Councillor John Hollick took up the role as around 60 people turned out for council talks on the Fortfield Hotel site and revetment blueprints to slow cliff erosion at Pennington Point last month.
Former Church Street business owner Mr Hollick had been vice chair of the committee for two years. He succeeded Cllr Ian McKenzie Edwards, who said: “He’s been a extraordinarily good vice chair. I can think of no one better to take on the mantle of planning chairman.”
Cllr John Dyson took up the role of vice chairman and was nominated by Cllr Graham Liverton.
