A Sidmouth woman raised more than £1,000 for the charity that supported her following the loss of her husband by joining its Twilight Walk.

Julie Hignett’s spouse Paul died in May at the age of 41 and said she was ‘overwhelmed’ by the help she received from Hospiscare.

She was joined by Veryan Hutchings, Annette Trim and Elaine Harper, her colleagues from Harrison-Lavers & Potbury’s Estate Agents, at the women-only fundraiser in Exmouth on Saturday.

“I was overwhelmed by the support I received from Hospiscare,” said Julie.

“The staff there are fantastic and as a way of showing my appreciation I decided to take part in the walk and kindly asked for sponsorship. I have raised over £1,000 so far.”

Hospiscare looks after 700 patients at any one time, supporting patients in their own homes and in its hospice. It relies on the generosity of the community to provide this vital service.
