Radio DJ Mark Goodier will join more than 1,000 cyclists this weekend in the annual ‘Jurassic Classic’ cancer charity race.

The race takes place this Sunday, August 11, and raises money for Prostate Cancer UK and starts at Exmouth Rugby Ground, writes David Beasley.

The event includes a selection of activities, from bouncy castles and face painting to sports massage therapy.

Keen cyclist Mark is encouraging people to take to two wheels and join him in the Jurassic Classic.

He said: “I love Prostate Cancer UK bike rides, they are always fantastic and I am so excited to take part in such a spectacular course in a beautiful part of the country.

“I lost my father-in-law to prostate cancer, so I know only too well how important these cycling events are, as they draw attention to and raise funds for a very important cause.”

Andy Sallnow, Sporting Events Manager at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We are delighted to be holding our second Jurassic Classic bike ride this summer and thrilled that over 900 people have already signed up in support of Prostate Cancer UK.

“We are encouraging participants and their supporters to come along and enjoy the events village after the ride.

“With over 40,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer each year in the UK and one man dying every hour, it is our aim to help more men survive and enjoy a better quality of life.

“This event is set to raise vital funds which will help us provide dedicated support and information to men and their families affected by prostate cancer and will help us fund research to help fight the disease.”

Any last-minute entrants can register for the cycle ride this weekend in the registration tent at the club, with registrations between 2pm and 6pm tomorrow, and from 6am on Sunday, August 11.

Anyone be available and keen to volunteer at the event they should contact cycling@prostatecanceruk.org.
