TWO Devon experts have won a national prize for producing a DVD and publication about the Jurassic Coast.
David Weatherly, geography advisor for Devon County Council's learning and development partnership and Anjana Ford, education co-ordinator of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, have won a silver citation in this year's national publishers' awards from the Geographical Association for Coastal Conflicts.
It won the award for its high quality content, flexibility, relevance and ease of use, and says the association: "It provides primary pupils with engaging and challenging geographic enquiry based on real events and processes."
DCC's cabinet member for schools and skills, Councillor Christine Channon, said: "This is another example of the expertise we have available to our schools in Devon to help them in delivering the curriculum to our youngsters in an innovative way."
The two DVDs include a decision-making exercise on the creation of a sustainable management plan for part of the Devon coast.
Anjana said: "The Jurassic Coast is the only natural world heritage site in England and Wales and this resource is an excellent way for children to understand why UNESCO has given it such an incredibly important designation.
