Kayaker helped to safety in Sidmouth

A KAYAKER who got into trouble off the coast of Sidmouth at the weekend was helped to safety by members of the public.

Sidmouth Lifeboat and Beer Coastguard received several reports of a red and orange kayak sinking off the beach at around 2.30pm on Saturday.

As the Pride of Sidmouth was launching to help, it was confirmed that the man had made it to shore with the help of fellow kayakers.

Beer Coastguards continued to launch and collected the man's details.
