A SIDMOUTH author wants young people from the town to help compile a list of their top 10 best dreams.Kerrie Clifford, who has lived in Sidmouth for 15 years, has written an adventure novel aimed at young people, set in a dream world, which is called The Incubus Attack. The book, written in 2006/7, is the start of an ongoing series called The Dynamo Tales, written under the mysterious pen name Kasparo.Mrs Clifford, who printed some advance copies of the book last year and distributed them to people of different age groups, said their feedback was beyond her expectations. She said: "I could not believe the response from my readers. It blew me away. My agent's reader said it was one of the best books he had read. I only hope that a publisher gets as excited about the book."Mrs Clifford's books grew out of the extraordinary dreams she had when she was younger. The Incubus Attack is set in a parallel world, the State of Sleep, and features a fantastic array of characters and locations. "Anything seems possible in your dreams when you are young. The world is at your command and you can do literally anything."As adults, we seem to lose the power of our imagination," said Mrs Clifford, who is half way through writing the second novel in the series. The 39-year-old, from Malden Road, completed a drama degree at Manchester University in 1990 before spending two years travelling in Asia, crossing Tibet and the Himalayas on a bicycle. She has had an article about her trip published, together with short stories, one of which, The Hoarder, about a woman waiting to give birth, was broadcast by the BBC.She said: "In 1995, I became involved in setting up a web design and technology training company (Cosmic) in Ottery St Mary. "It was here, surrounded by talented young people who were creating designs and graphics for our web pages, that I became interested in writing for a teenage market."Mrs Clifford, chairman of governors at Sidmouth Infants, wants to survey as many people as possible about their dreams through an anonymous web-based questionnaire which can be found at www.dynamotales.com.The five-minute survey is online until Friday, January 25. She said: "I would so appreciate the help of the people of Sidmouth. I really want responses from people of all ages, but I am particularly keen to ensure I capture the dreams of my target reader group, young people aged nine to 16."You can do anything in your dreams.
