A RESPONSIBLE resident handed these knives over to the police - because he no longer wanted them.
Officers say the elderly man wanted to dispose of the items, with locking blades, ‘properly’ and took advantage of their monthly surgery open to the public.
Sergeant Andy Squires praised the resident’s actions and said: “This is an example of somebody being very responsible. Thankfully the Monday-morning surgery has given them the opportunity to hand these in and dispose of them in the proper way.”
The knives will now be disposed of by the force.
Sidmouth’s police station stages the surgeries for members of the public to express their concerns on the first Monday of every month.
