THE first ‘Special of the season’ for Sidmouth Museum will be devoted to lace and Regency reproduction costumes.

As an extension to her regular Thursday morning lace demonstrations, Marion Wagstaff will be at the museum from 10.30am to 3.30pm on May 10 - bringing along some rare items and talking about the different types of lacemaking, many of which can be seen in the venue’s permanent lace display.

Last year, Beryl McIndoe worked with the Guides on the Count Me In project, designing and producing Regency reproduction costumes.

Responding to demand for another viewing, Beryl and the costumes will also be present on May 10, when visitors have a good opportunity to talk about the project and the costumes.

Both lacemaking and the Regency period feature strongly in Sidmouth’s history, so combining a traditional craft with the efforts of today’s youngsters make this a day to appeal to young and old alike. Entrance to the museum is free. For more information call the Museum on 01395 516139 or email sidmouth@devonmueums.net
