A shortage of staff at Sidmouth’s minor injuries unit (MIU) has resulted in the service closing for 24 hours today (Thursday).
The facility at the town’s Victoria Hospital treats injuries such as cuts, sprains and broken bones.
A spokeswoman for the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, the body that operates the service, confirmed that the facility would be shut today due to a ‘staffing shortage’.
She said the MIU would re-open again tomorrow (Friday) as normal, from 10am.
She added that patients can visit Honiton’s MIU today, which can be found at the town’s hospital in Marlpits Road, and is open from 10am until 6pm.
