A PICTURE perfect of the beautiful landscape in the Sid Vale area is being sought for inclusion in the 2010 Sidmouth Landscape Fund Calendar.

Sue Harrod, a life member of the Sid Vale Association, is working on designing the calendar to raise funds for the purchase of areas of outstanding natural beauty in the Sid Vale area for the enjoyment of future generations.

She has already received a number of quality photographs for inclusion in the calendar but more photos are still needed.

Sue said: "Through the public sending photos, they will be taking part in a joint effort between the Sid Vale Association and the National Trust to save the beautiful Sid Vale landscapes for future generations to enjoy.

"I would like to thank the people that have already given me photos."

Sue decided to organise the calendar because the area is steeped in the rich history of her family.

Sue's link to the area started in 1850 when her great great grandfather, George Hawkings, became the miller at Sidford for 51 years.

Her great grandfather, Frederick Hawkings, had a room in the mill for his organ playing.

He grew up to be an Organist covering many Churches in the Sid Vale area, notably Salcombe Regis.

His daughter, Sue's grandmother Emily, married Richard Lavers, who came from a farming family within the Sid Vale locale.

He founded Hamilton Garage in the 1920s and their daughters Rosalie, Sue's mother, and Dorothy grew up at Hamilton Villas near the garage.

Sue is appealing to anyone with good resolution photos of the coast or landscape in the Sid Vale area to send them to yalis@btinternet.com for possible inclusion.

A free calendar will be sent to the successful photographer.
