A Sidmouth fisherman received a shock on a morning trip out at sea when he was joined by a large jellyfish.
Guy Bennett captured this image on Sunday, after spotting the first of six barrel jellyfish while he was out fishing.
The barrel jellyfish is the largest of the species, with a diameter of up to 90cm and weights of up to 35 kilos.
Guy said: “. I saw about six in total. It made me jump when I first saw it so went back for a photo of it.
I saw loads last year. This was the first I have seen of them this year. It must be because of the sunny weather we have had causing the phytoplankton to bloom.”
