A generous legacy has helped to purchase a new 14-seater mini-bus for Abbeyfield residents.
The Abbeyfield Sidmouth Society unveiled the new mode of transport last week which will be used by those living at Culver House, Abbeyfield Court and Cotmaton House.
The society provides residential accommodation for elderly people capable of independent living and owns three houses in Vicarage Road, Cotmaton Road and the Triangle.
Chairman David Wheaton said: “Abbeyfield have acquired the minibus to provide what we believe will be an excellent new resource for residents. The minibus will be available for residents of all three houses and can be used for taking them on excursions or hospital visits or appointments at the Beacon Medical Centre.”
The society is appealing for more volunteer drivers to come forward to drive the bus. Anyone interested are asked to call Jacqui Paige at Culver House on 01395 515142.
