Sidmouth Lifeboat was handed a cheque for 500 from the proceeds of a successful classic car show in Sidford.
Ian Hartnell, from the P4 Driver’s Guild Devon, said the group is going to adopt the crew as its designated charity from now on, as he already starts to prepare for next year’s show.
He said the event, on the land opposite the Blue Ball pub in Sidford, was a tremendous success’, with 67 entries to the classic car competition.
More than 350 people turned up to see the show, which included a 1950’s London bus, helping raise 500 for the lifeboat, but Ian said the 2013 show, provisionally booked for September 7, can raise much more.
“We’ve all been on cloud nine since the show, the atmosphere was so brilliant, and we’ve come up with all sorts of ideas to make next year even better,” he added.
