SOME �400 raised for the Buturi Project at a unique performance of Shakespeare's lost play Cardenio, will go towards building a school in Makongoroo, a Tanzanian village.
Laura 'Pixie' Hounsom, 21, an English student at Cambridge University, whose parents live in Sidmouth, directed the open-air performance in Connaught Gardens last month, staged by t'Act alternative theatre company formed by university students.
Her mother, Deirdre Dee, together with Project founder Judith Smith, organised the venue with help from Sidmouth Lions, Tom Griffiths, who loaned deckchairs for the evening, and Nigel Stout from the Mocha who provided ice creams.
"People really loved it. My neighbour came with a friend and said she didn't realise it was so professional. It was one of the best performances they did," said Deirdre, who thanked all those who helped and supported the event.
