The release of a group of beavers back to the River Otter moved a step closer to reality today (Wednesday) after the animals were found to be free of tapeworm.

The release of a group of beavers back to the River Otter moved a step closer to reality today (Wednesday) after the animals were found to be free of tapeworm.

Tests results show that the four adults that were trapped are clear of Echinococcus multilocularis – a disease not currently present in the UK.

The animals will now be tested for other infections diseases to comply with a government licence before they are allowed to be released.
