A motorist whose car struck a woman in Sidmouth, causing her to suffer a fractured shoulder, has admitted driving without due care and attention.

Exeter Magistrates’ Court heard this week the incident occurred on Salcombe Road on October 28 last year, when Anthony Dandy, 59, was attempting a parallel parking manouvre in a BMW car.

The court heard he knocked over a woman who was crossing the road.

The woman suffered fractures to her shoulder, with which she was hospitalised for four days.

Dandy, of Stafford Place, Weston-Super-Mare, did not attend the hearing, but instead pleaded guilty to the charge by post.

Magistrates ruled that he would have to attend court in June for sentencing.
