A man required stitches to re-attach his ear after an alleged assault outside an Ottery St Mary pub on Saturday night.

Police were called to an incident near the King’s Arms in Gold Street at around 11pm.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the man in his 20s required hospital treatment to repair damage to his left ear after he was allegedly punched to the ground and kicked while on the floor.

• The spokesman said two men, both aged 21 and from Ottery St Mary, were arrested on suspicion of assault and have been released on police bail until March 28.
