A SIDBURY man will be donning a Mr Tickle vest next month when he attempts to run the gruelling Flora London Marathon for a children's charity.

Richard Harris, 50, of The Bear House, is aiming to raise 3,000 for CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA when he runs with the Mr Men and Little Miss Team in the capital on April 26.

Richard, who will be running his third marathon in a year, has spent months preparing for the big day and hopes to make a difference by completing the 26.2 miles with thousands of others.

He said: "I ran the London Marathon and New York Marathon last year for the charity and I thought I might be able to get a better time if I attempt the London run again.

"I only started running again last year when I turned 50. I had a thirty year break and when I reached 50 I thought I'd do something crazy and try a couple of marathons."

So far Richard has raised just under 5,000 for the worthwhile cause:

"I feel lucky that I got to 50 and have never really been ill in my life. When you think there are little kiddies out there who have leukemia it just seems so unfair. It's a very organised charity and the money really helps."

Richard has also planned to host a charity auction for the cancer trust in conjunction with the 40th birthday party of his business, Honiton Garage.

He added: "It will be on June 26 and I'm hoping to raise even more money through this event.
