A DISTRESSED woman is appealing for the safe return of her dog after it went missing on Sunday.
Ron, a male Border Collie, was last seen at around 9.15pm at his owner's tent located between Sidmouth and Salcombe Regis.
Helen Smith and her dog were just settling down for the night when fireworks spooked Ron and he ran off.
He is described as a Blue Merle Border Collie and was wearing a dirty pale blue collar- he wasn't tagged.
Helen, from Yelverton, who is walking the South West Coast Path, is urging anyone who has seen a dog matching his description to report it to the police or the district council dog handler.
A police spokesperson said: "The owner of the dog is very upset and would love to be reunited with him. She says Ron is very friendly and if his name was shouted he would probably answer to it."
