Missing man found safe and well in Sidmouth

An elderly man disappeared in Sidmouth, sparking a police hunt

An elderly man with dementia was found safe and well in Sidmouth after his disappearance sparked a police search.

The man’s concerned wife alerted police late on Saturday afternoon, two hours after he went missing from the Manor Road car park area.

A police helicopter and response units worked with Sidmouth Neighbourhood team to comb the area and the man was found at 5.30pm in a hostelry on the sea front.

The couple are from East Devon and were visiting Sidmouth when the incident happened.
