EXETER Corn Exchange has opened the box office for its autumn programme featuring a wide range of events and including return visits from the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and Moscow Ballet.

The season kicks off on Friday October 3 with the ever-popular Exeter Comedy Club featuring top performers from the national stand-up circuit. On Sunday October 12 the UK's leading Taiko Drummers, Mugenkyo Taiko perform and on the following Sunday, October 19, Exeter Gym Club presents their fund-raising fashion show featuring guest models from Exeter Chiefs rugby team.

The Motown Show on Friday October 24 is a slick and high-energy recreation of the 60s and 70s Motown era and this is followed on Friday October 31 with a flamboyant and magical performance by Jaleo Flamenco.

On Saturday November 1, An Audience with Henry Blofeld features the much-loved cricket commentator with anecdotes from his colourful life.

Moscow Ballet - La Classique, have already staged two sell-out performances at the venue and they return on Wednesday November 5 with their production of Coppelia. Another Exeter Comedy Club evening on Friday November 7 is followed by a performance by multi-instrumentalist and singer Rory McLeod on Wednesday November 12.

Cara Dillon has been described as having "quite possibly the world's most beautiful female voice" and the Irish folk singer appears with support on Friday November 14. The following evening sees the return of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain with what looks certain to be a sell-out concert as they perform their own unique versions of numbers made famous by artists ranging from the Sex Pistols to Johann Sebastian Bach.

A new initiative for the Exeter City Council run venue is Sunday Evening Theatre with two contrasting productions on Sunday November 16 and Sunday November 23. Club Class is an aviation-based comedy written by a headline Comedy Store and Jongleurs comedian. A cast of four play all the characters on a charter flight to Portugal and audience members are encouraged to don fancy dress with cabin crew, holiday makers and pilots all welcome.

The following week sees a one-man show by Lloyd Lee as he performs Educating Charlie, a fascinating look at the life of Charles Dickens through a series of characters from his novels - 150 years after the great man himself read in Exeter to rapturous reviews.

Oysterband perform with support on Sunday November 30 and on Friday December 5 Angels Choir - gracious voices of African children is a performance by the talented children of Tiger Kloof, South Africa with beautiful and inspiring gospel and choral singing combined with an energising display of Gum Boot Dancing.

Show of Hands perform on Sunday December 7 and on Saturday December 13 the Big Christmas Party features live music from Heatwave a group of young musicians building a fantastic reputation as a party band and Radio Devon DJ Howard James.

Exeter Children's Orchestra stage their Christmas concert on Sunday 14 December and the season ends on Wednesday 17 December with Exeter Comedy Club's Christmas Special.
