RESIDENTS in Sidmouth and its surrounding areas can enjoy a fun-filled night this evening and boost two causes that have helped save the life of a little girl from the town.
The fourth annual Hope’s Variety Night, in aid of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit and Devon Air Ambulance, will take place in Sidbury Village Hall from 7.30pm tonight.
The Herald reported last week how thankful mum and organiser Amy Baker, of Chambers Close, Sidmouth, wants to boost both causes after they played a crucial role in saving daughter Hope’s life.
Amy has raised around �2,000 since her first event in 2007.
Three-year-old Hope won a survival battle after being born eleven weeks premature and was cared for in the Special Care Baby Unit for four months.
Amy and husband Matt, 33, also feel indebted to the Air Ambulance, which swiftly rushed them to hospital after Hope suffered a febrile convulsion seizure and stopped breathing last August.
Tonight’s fun will feature Ned and the Turmites, Wally Cotgrave, Val Howles and Sue Gooding among a raft of performers. Variety night tickets (�5) are available from Hayman’s in Woolbrook, Drew’s Butchers in Sidbury, and Coles in Sidmouth.
