A pair of mums are preparing to launch a new online emporium aimed at helping parents find quality children’s clothes.

Francesca Bayly and Jen Knowles took their own frustrations of buying online to create an easy-to-navigate, virtual marketplace for pre-loved and new branded items.

They will launch Sprout + Shed with a pop up event at Darts Farm this Sunday from 11am to 3pm.

The business will collaborate with independent and well-known brands to filter clothing for parents to find products more easily and at a reasonable price.

Jen, who grew up in Sidmouth, said they wanted to find a solution to trawling sites to buy good quality clothes at a reasonable price when children grow out of items quickly.

The 33-year-old, who is mum to Ned, two, and Lola 13 months, said: “You always want clothes that are beautiful but practical, that are hard wearing. We like to go hiking, swimming, surfing and the clothes need to be quite robust.

“On sites, you cannot filter by age of the child or by the product. It’s a big market there for pre-loved robust clothes that look lovely, but everyone is getting impatient with them. We want to have a solution to that.

“We want to collaborate not compete, we want to bring all these children service’s together.”

At the event on Sunday, visitors will be able to browse a selection of pre-loved kids clothes, look round a range of stalls, and take part in activities led by local businesses.

Jen, who now lives in Topsham, said: “The whole concept has been built from our frustrations at the options currently out there for buying pre-owned children’s products online and we look forward to helping mums and dads get the best deal, all the while actively celebrating sustainable parenting.

“But the cherry on top, is giving parents back precious time, time that would be better spent hanging out with their ever-growing kids.”

Francesca, who is mum to four-year-old Maiya, and Rosa, 15 months, added there were environmental benefits as it would reduce the number of clothes heading to landfill.
