New consultation on Ottery’s future

Archant

There will be another consultation on Ottery’s housing future after the district council decided to ask the public what they think of changes to the draft Local Plan.

There was a special meeting of the council’s Development Management Committee on Tuesday, where members were informed of the alterations, such as reducing the allocation for Ottery to 300 homes.

A decision was made to allow the public to have their say on new inset maps, which highlight some of the sites in each town earmarked for potential housing and employment.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) is currently drafting a Local Plan which will set out planned housing and industrial growth, as well as tourism and town centre proposals until 2026.

But it has often stirred up anger from residents, and on Tuesday a group called Save Our Sidmouth protested outside the Knowle about planned industrial units in their town.

The four-week consultation begins today, with the new maps available on EDDC’s website www.eastdevon.gov.uk.
