A new Sidmouth gallery, opened in memory of an amateur painter, has proven to be a huge hit with artists and visitors.

Cordelia Gallery opened last week and has already been approached by a number of artists about holding exhibitions there in the future.

The studio is currently exhibiting more than 10 artists from across the West Country at its premises in Cross Lane, Sidmouth. Works by Michael Banham-Taylor, David McCracken and resident artist Susanna Lance are currently on display.

Watercolour artist David McCracken came to Sidmouth more than 25 years ago and has been inspired by the sea and local landscape.

The gallery is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and on Thursday by appointment only. Local artists are encouraged to contact the gallery through the website at www.cordeliagallery.co.uk if they are interested in exhibiting their work, or holding an exhibition.
