A new group is preparing to launch in the New Year to support parents and carers who look after children with autism and ADHD.
Kevin Hickson is using his knowledge as a mental health and learning disability nurse to provide a monthly session where users can exchange ideas and experiences.
He hopes to begin in January at the Beacon Medical Centre.
Mr Hickson said: “Autistic children and children with ADHD see the world differently and they sometimes show behaviour that will cause problems for others and themselves when they try to come to terms
“It is a case of providing an opportunity for people to come forward to something that is not going to be intimidating.
“It is a supportive, safe environment and it is also practical, where we discuss what practical things you can do for your child.”
The sessions would cost between £2 and £3.
