Youngsters in Tipton St John have received a boost to their wildlife project after receiving a hedgehog home for a local developer.

David Wilson Homes presented the primary school with a ‘hogitat’ which is specially built for the mammals to house in during hibernation.

The children have spent the term learning about nature and wildlife with a series of visits and talks.

As part of the project the pupils took part in a wildlife challenge day at Seaton Jurassic to learn about the challenges faced by wildlife in the local area.

They also enjoyed a visit from author Alexander Martin, the author and creator of Stanley Smartpants.

The visit was sponsored by developers David Wilson Homes who donated the home as part of its commitment to support local wildlife.

Sara Parker, sales director, said: “We can’t help but smile thinking about what the hedgehogs will think when they head into hibernation.

“They’ll be upgrading from under sheds and in piles of leaves and to a brand-new home, built specially for them.”
