A MOVE for Ottery's library to more "accessible and appropriate premises" so it can be quadrupled in size is a "priority", but there are no concrete plans according to Devon County Council.
Proposals by developer Churchill Properties, who own part of the town's vacant factory site, suggested a move is on the cards for the service but DCC said nothing is set in stone.
A spokesperson said: "The re-location of Ottery St Mary Library to more has been a priority for Devon Libraries for many years.
"The library service has always been keen to explore emerging opportunities, and were approached for initial discussions by the developers' agents to see if there was scope for including a replacement library in any ideas for developing the old factory site.
"The next stage is to consider the latest proposals from the developers, and whether they would meet both the needs of the Ottery local community and Devon Libraries' requirements for a well-located, affordable library at least four times larger than the present building.
