PUPILS at Newton Poppleford Primary School celebrated the opening of a newly landscaped play area this week.
The area, which encompasses a sand pit and auditorium, provides the school's youngest children with an outside space that can be enjoyed in all weathers.
It has been designed with input from children and teachers to ensure that it provides not only a good teaching environment but an area that the children want to use day after day.
Amanda Thomas, early years teacher, said: "It is wonderful to have this extension to the children's learning environment and we are thrilled to be using it."
David Manley, a school governor, added: "As a new governor it was great to be part of a project that has improved the landscape of the school and which provides so much enjoyment for our children."
The school wishes to thank Sidmouth Garden Centre for their generosity in supplying the plants for the project.
