A former university lecturer has been announced as the new president of Otter Valley Rotary Club.
Terry Blackler, from Talaton, succeeded Peter Bennett at the start of the month and will be president of the club for a second time after holding the position 21 years ago.
At a handover on June 26, both Peter and Terry were presented with certificates marking 25 years in Rotary.
During the year, Terry plans to initiate a Santa fun run in the town and forge links with the Copenhagen Rotary Club to support ‘The Baton’ charity as well as continuing support a range of activities.
Terry is also district 1175 ambassador for ‘Global Sight Solutions’ and has helped raise £3,900 from Devon & Cornwall Rotary Clubs to equip 10 new eye hospitals in the Indian sub-continent and elsewhere.
