The newly refurbished pool at St John’s School was officially reopened last week after a ‘considerable investment’ – and it now boasts a fully retracting telescopic roof.
The school is part of the IES group and its president, Dr Jorge Segovia, and chairman, Andrew McEwen, had the honour of cutting the ribbon.
The new roof means the pool can be used throughout the year and could pave the way for its expanded use by the community for swimming lessons and team sports.
Headteacher Mike Burgess said: “This considerable investment has been made on the back of a 30 per cent increase in pupil numbers in St John’s and reflects IES’s commitment to St John’s as the flagship school in the IES group.
“We would like to thank IES for their continued support and we are delighted that Dr Segovia and Mr McEwen were here to officially open the pool.”
